Resources on Freedom of Information Law

Resources on Freedom of Information Law offers resources for research on the Canadian Freedom of Information Act. The site contains a searcheable database of information requests presented to federal institutions under the Act. It is maintained by Professor Alasdair Roberts, Maxwell School, Syracuse University.

The database has recently been updated to include requests received between December 1 and December 31, 2001. The database now includes a total of about 28,000 requests received since January 1, 1999.

You can use this database to identify requests that relate to your own research interests. Next, you can contact departments and agencies to obtain records already made public in response to those requests. Advice on how to do this is provided on the site.
