A partisan analysis of the professionalization of evaluation practices

Despite a great deal of discussion of the notion of professionalization of evaluation practice around the world, many associated concepts are not clearly defined. As part of his volunteer professional involvement, Benoît Gauthier has committed to providing operational definitions of the concepts of profession, professionalism, professional and professionalization and to offering a methodology to reflect on the ins and outs of a national process of professionalization. In a research note published in French by the Canadian Journal of Program Evaluation, Benoît Gauthier analyzes these dimensions and concludes on the prospects for the professionalization of the practice of evaluation at the international level.
