Sondage des utilisateurs des services audionumériques payants au Canada en 2000

Report presented to the Neighbouring Rights Collective of Canada, July 2000

The study aimed at clarifying three issues:

• the profile of Canadian pay audio services users;
• the use made of pay audio services by digital television clients;
• the impact of the use of pay audio services on listening to one's music CD collection and on prerecorded CD purchases.

The study is based on a telephone survey of 15,247 Canadians aged 12 or more reached between June 15 and July 27 2000 by Écho Sondage Inc.. The refusal rate was 23% while the response rate was 72% according to industry standard calculations.

The results were presented to the Copyright Board Canada in the context of hearings on the establishment of a tariff for the transmission of music by pay audio services.
